The Desert Figure Skating Club
Before Ilia Malinin, Nathan Chen, Alysa Liu, Jason Brown, Madison Chock, Evan Bates, or any other world-class skater from the United States takes the ice at the World Championships or Olympic Winter Games, they all start from the same place – by joining a local figure skating club sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. Become a member now by going to our Membership page.
The club’s home ice is located at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The Berger Foundation Iceplex training facility adjacent to the arena is open for public, freestyle and adult drop-in sessions. We are thrilled to have regulation ice right here in the Coachella Valley!
Although we can’t promise that you’ll get to the Olympics, we can guarantee all the benefits and privileges provided through U.S. Figure Skating membership in The Desert Figure Skating Club (TDFSC), the desert’s only U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned member club.
Mission
The Desert Figure Skating Club envisions a thriving, inclusive figure skating community in the Coachella Valley—one that inspires passion, fosters athletic and personal growth, and ensures skating is accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
We work to remove barriers to participation by supporting financially disadvantaged skaters and individuals with physical or mental challenges who benefit from adaptive or specialized programs. Through programs, partnerships, and community events, we aim to establish the Coachella Valley as a regional hub for excellence, inclusion, opportunity, and overall well-being in figure skating.
The club fosters amateur figure skating at the local, national, and international levels and supports the development of athletes pursuing competitive pathways.
We recognize that skating strengthens both physical and mental health. Beyond athletic training, we intentionally cultivate confidence, resilience, social connection, and a sense of belonging—because the rink is not just where skaters train, it’s where community is built.
